Rabat – Morocco’s basketball team secured on Thursday his fourth win in the African Championship (Afrobasket 2017) held in Senegal and Tunisia, reaching the semi-finals for the first time in 37 years.
The Moroccans beat their Egyptian rivals at the quarter final 66-62.
The Atlas Lions have to thank Zakaria Mesbahi for this important win after he scored 17 points during yesterday’s game.
A tough game awaits the Moroccan team against the co-host Tunisia.
The Tuninsian team largely defeated its quarter-final rival, the Democratic Republic of Congo, 81-60.
Tunisians seem confident of beating the Moroccan team. The Eagles of Carthage are among the best teams in Africa.
The last time the two sides met was in 2015 when the Tunisian squad edged the Moroccan one in the eighth-finals.
The Tunisians went on to win the Bronze medal in the tournament.
However, Moroccans seem in a better shape this year. The Atlas Lions defeated their three rivals in Group B, including Angola, the most decorated African nation in the the history of the championship
