, KISII, Kenya, Nov 29 – A 26-year old woman has been found murdered after being raped and burnt with acid in a maize plantation in Nyaribari Chache.
The body of Joscah Kemunto Bosibori was discovered by her mother who had gone to fetch Napier grass in Nyamawa Village, Kerera sub-location.
“My daughter Kemunto went missing on Monday when she went to Keumbu market but she never came back home,” Pacifica Moraa narrated.
Moraa added that they waited for her to show up but she did not. On Tuesday morning they started looking for her since her phone was off.
“We assumed since she was an adult, she was to come back home as we continued with our daily chores,” she added.
In the evening at around 6pm she went to her maize plantation and discovered a sack of fertilizer, beans and a jembe.
“A few meters away, my daughter was lying with her body injured with bruises on her neck, legs and hands. Her body also had burns on the legs and hands and her skirt was torn into pieces,” she explained.
This is when she raised alarm and villagers came immediately.
In the same village, a middle aged man was set ablaze by villagers over allegations of stealing from a nearby kiosk.
The man was pursued and nabbed by boda boda riders when the shop owner raised alarm.
Kisii Police Commander Hassan Abdi said that the police are investigating the death of the woman.
“This holiday season, police will fully patrol with the help of Nyumba Kumi and community policing to ensure there are zero crimes in the region,” said the police commander.
He asked the public not to take the law in their hands and instead report any crimes to the police.
“We don’t entertain crime as we ask the public to maintain the law by reporting any incident,” he added
