, Nyamira, Kenya, Oct 13 – Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has said that business is not going to be as usual as they are going to set heavy measures which will curb road accidents.

Speaking at Borabu Constituency in Nyamira County on Friday, Matiangi said that they are going to set measures which will curb road accidents which has claimed many lives.

He added that they will have a new approach which will bring a lasting solutions to this problem.

“I want to promise that we are going to ensure that we have set a new approach so that we can have lasting solutions.”

“Our actions are going to speak, we have agreed with the Ministry of Transport and Security docket to have a new approach so that we can sort this menace once and for all.”

The CS also added that the new approach will be felt with other people who have been messing in the roads.

“I want to say that this time round some people are going to feel it, we cannot be talking one thing all the time. We should have it solved,”Matiangi said.

This comes after Nyamira Senator Mogeni Okongo noted that the police officers and the EACC have been having issues since following the decision to arm traffic police stationed on highways and other major transit routes with guns.

He said the officers were unfortunately misusing the firearms to scare EACC detectives from investigate them after road users raise complaints that the police officers were extorting them.

“How can police officers who have guns on the road be investigated by EACC officers, we should have a better way on how we can end this problem,” said Okongo.
