Egypt aims for new British investments in new cities: Nasr

Egypt looks forward to attract more British investments in the country’s new cities, the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation (MIIC), Sahar Nasr, said during her meeting with British Investment Minister, Graham Stuart, as part of her investment promotional visit to the United Kingdom.

“We aim for new British investments in the infrastructure and transportation sectors, as we are currently implementing about 14 new cities,” she added.

The meeting also discussed possibilities of boosting British investments in the education field, especially between Egyptian universities and British counterparts, a Saturday statement from the MIIC said.

For his part, Stuart affirmed that Egypt is a strategic partner for the UK, noting that his country supports Egypt’s economic reforms which lead to more international investments.

“The next period will witness several visits between the UK and Egypt to closely identify business opportunities in Egypt,” the British minister declared.

Both sides agreed on encouraging investors to augment their investments in Egypt’s transportation, education, and entrepreneurship sectors, the statement said, noting that 1,816 British companies are operating in Egypt with $47.4bn investments.

Nasr also met with the Minister of State for Middle East Affairs in the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Andrew Murrison, on Thursday during her visit to the UK.
