The Nakuru-Naivasha highway was Monday closed at Stem Hotel near Pipeline area in Nakuru after a fuel tanker developed spillage.
Confirming the incident, Nakuru East OCPD Ellena Kabukuru said they have established an alternative route for commuters along the busy highway.
Kabukuru added that police and experts had been deployed to control and contain the situation.
She further warned residents against any attempt of siphoning the fuel to avoid a tragedy similar to that witnessed most recently in Tanzania.
