Two prison warders were arrested on Monday after they were allegedly caught on CCTV cameras hiding cocaine in a toilet at Manyani Maximum Security Prison in Voi.
The two constables identified as Boniface Korir and William Chengo were arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
According to the DCI, the two officers were also found in possession of unauthorised ammunition.
The arrest of the two officers comes in the wake of an intensified crackdown on drug trafficking and criminal networks at the Coastal region.
Still on Monday, a police boss was arrested in Lamu for allegedly being paid Ksh.50,000 to release a drug consignment that had been nabbed at Mtangawanda jetty Lamu East on Sunday.
Chief Inspector Shadrack Mumo was also accused of releasing the suspect caught with the drugs.
