Yenagoa – Senator Diri Douye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Bayelsa State governorship election, has promised to consolidate on the achievements recorded by the Governor Seriake Dickson-led administration, if elected.
He made the promise while addressing a crowd of supporters during a rally organised in Yenagoa to mobilise support for him and his running-mate, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, ahead of the governorship poll slated for November 16.
The rally, which held under the protection of armed security operatives, caused heavy traffic gridlock along the major Mbiama-Yenagoa Road for several hours with residents complaining about difficulty in movement and accusing the government of insensitivity.
Douye said that the Dickson administration had laid the foundation for the progress and development of Bayelsa State through infrastructural development.
According to him, the PDP was already standing on a good footing with such significant milestones, stressing that “we want to raise the bar and bring prosperity for you the good people of Bayelsa”.
Douye also assured the people that his administration would provide the enabling environment for all to succeed.
The PDP standard bearer further appealed to the people to continually support the government of Dickson as its tenure comes to an end.
In a remark, Nimibofa Ayawei, the Director-General of the Senator Douye Diri Campaign Organisation, urged the people to vote for Douye and the PDP.
He noted that the PDP candidate has the requisite experience to pilot the affairs of Bayelsa State, having served in various capacities.
