Funmi Fetto’s ‘Palette: The Beauty Bible for Women of Colour’
Launched on October 3rd, 2019, the book is a compilation of 200 skincare, makeup, hair care products and everything beauty. These are beauty products the critically acclaimed writer of over fifteen years has selected for women of colour.
In a recent interview with British daily newspaper the Metro. The Glamour magazine beauty Editor helped to further widen the conversation discussing the lack of exclusivity in the beauty industry. She talked about the idea of beauty companies making products specifically targeted for white people. A normal but sad truth that every women of colour has had to deal with. This is sadly, an idea that’s inherently due to what the wider market believes to be providing greater value to the beauty market. Funmi used her personal experience growing up to drew conclusion on the argument. The difficulties she encountered in finding the perfect foundation shade for her skin tone and drew an argument on how most of the beauty commercials in the media praised the white skin and made women of colour take the reserved bench on the sideline.
However, Funmi eulogized a few companies for an impressive commitment elevating the aesthetic and the rich value that women of colour possess, one of such is MAC Cosmetics, she expressed in an interview with Metro.
