Charly Boy Passionately Comes At Tuface Over #ResumeOrResign Protest

Charly Boy is the leader and founder of ‘Our Mumu Don Do' campaign, a platform he set up to protest the dearth of quality leadership in Nigeria and in conjunction with the ‘Concerned Citizens activist group, Charly Boy recently took the protest to Abuja to demand President Muhammad Buhari, who has been away from the country for over 100 days, either ‘Resume or Resign'.

Other stars, including the popular Nollywood artist, Jim Iyke, joined him in the protest. But, the protest was suspended after 9 days following the attack on the group at Wuse market, Abuja.

In his Instagram post, Charles Oputa asked 2baba if he did not hear about the ‘Resume or Resign' protest. It's clear Charly Boy expected 2baba's support.

He said:

“My guy 2face, I am not happy with you. Since I couldn't reach you directly, I decided to reach you through this medium.
Do you remember when you called on Nigerian youths to come out and protest? We obeyed because we thought you had a good intention to stand up to the injustices against the youths and masses of this country.
But, as you retreated into a hole since then, I am very pained. If a beckon of hope like you can be lily-livered when people need you more, what is your problem?
“2face are you happy with the way Nigeria is headed? Are you saying you have not heard about the resume or resign protest, why are you not involved?”

Recall that 2baba, early this year, wanted to launch a protest against Buhari's administration, but did not continue, because of ‘security challenges'. However, 2baba promised that even though his Protest' did not hold, he would continue to speak out for Nigerians.

Here Is Why Alex Iwobi Does Not Live A Flamboyant Lifestyle

Arsenal Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi has revealed why he isn't living a flamboyant lifestyle unlike other footballers.

Iwobi, who admitted he earns very well at Arsenal, says his uncle Austin Okocha and his parents helped him stay grounded despite the hype surrounding him after a remarkable 18 months with Arsenal and Nigeria.

He insisted he is the same person he was two years ago before the fame and the money, however he also revealed he got reminded by people on who he is right now.

“Two years ago you could just come in, I'd normally go back to my old area and play in my cage and no one would bother me, but if I go and play in my cage now – ‘ahhh Alex Iwobi's here'.

I'm still getting used to that because I still feel like I'm the same as my friends and the same person as two years ago, but when people are like ‘do you know what you've done?'

“Obviously I was lucky to have an uncle that played football, so he still gives me advice from time to time, but my mum and dad keep me grounded.

“The more I'm progressing, the more money, the more the fame comes with it, but they're helping me invest because football is a really short career, so they're also making me think about life outside of football as well a bit more.”

This Is The Reason Ogenyi Onazi Was Denied A U.K Work Permit

Nigeria international Ogenyi Onazi has been denied a work permit to play for English Championship side Birmingham City. ONAZI Birmingham had agreed terms with the 24-year-old to sign him from Turkish club Trabzonspor.

However the Football Association turned down a first application for a work permit for Onazi last week. An appeal made by the club was rejected on Wednesday despite Onazi being a regular in the Nigeria national team.

It is understood that the player and his representatives are bitterly disappointed that the panel rejected an appeal. Onazi has played 38 times for the Super Eagles and helped them to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and reach the last 16 of the World Cup in Brazil a year later.

However Nigeria's failure to qualify for the past two editions of the Nations Cup has affected his chances of securing a work permit to play in the English Championship.

Despite appearing in over 80% of the national team games, Onazi failed to earn a permit after the FA considered the West African nation's world ranking in the past two years.

They are ranked 38th in the August 2017 ranking, but Nigeria finished 54th on aggregate over the past two years. Onazi joined current club Trabzonspor from Lazio last year and scored twice in 27 Turkish Super Lig matches last season

What exactly is Manuka honey and is it worth all the buzz?

I was on the hunt for some good old organic honey at the supermarket about a week ago when I almost had a heart attack mid-aisle, right in front of the breakfast spreads. Why in the world was Manuka honey almost ten times more expensive than the rest?

I first heard about this type of honey through Kourtney (wait for it) Kardashian who in 2016 endorsed Manuka Doctor. The wellness obsessed reality star who boasts of leading a highly organic lifestyle had adopted this honey-based skincare regimen.

I didn't think much of it then until I noticed an exorbitantly priced jar of Manuka honey and decided to do some research on it.

Manuka Flower

What is Manuka honey?

Believe it or not, not all honey is the same.

Manuka honey comes from the mountains of New Zealand where it's made by bees that pollinate the native Manuka trees. The flowers happen to have compounds that contain more antibacterial properties than the average, therefore making Manuka honey more potent in its healing properties.

For centuries, honey has been used for medicinal purposes (both prevention and cure) and I can attest to that after having taken a teaspoon of it every morning throughout my childhood. It helps guard against viral infections since it acts as a natural antibiotic.

But whereas regular organic honey has an amazing nutritional profile that includes calcium, iron, Vitamin B, Potassium, zinc and amino acids, honey derived from the manuka bush is said to have four times the nutritive value!

Benefits of this New Zealand sweetener

If hearing some nutritional facts on Manuka honey hasn't sold you, then perhaps the list below will. Some of the benefits include:

  1. Used as an ointment for wounds and cuts
  2. Boosts the immune system
  3. Clears infections
  4. Improves digestion
  5. Can be used topically to help with acne and eczema
  6. Reducing cholesterol
  7. Treating eye, ear and sinus infections

Notably, there are some studies that have come out inconclusive regarding the effectiveness of Manuka honey on some of these conditions.

That being said, the next time I come across this honey at the supermarket, you can be sure it's getting right into my basket!

Diana’s death: Week of grief shakes the monarchy

Twenty years ago on August 31, 1997, Britain's Princess Diana died in a high-speed car crash in Paris.

For the next week, up to her spectacular funeral, Britain was plunged into an unprecedented outpouring of popular grief which shook the monarchy.

Here is how the week unfolded:

– High speed crash –

Divorced for the past year from heir to the throne Prince Charles, Diana, 36, and her new millionaire lover, Egyptian Dodi Al-Fayed, are stalked by a posse of press photographers over the summer as they holiday in the Mediterranean.

They arrive in the afternoon of August 30 in Paris and dine in the evening at the Hotel Ritz, in the luxurious Place Vendome. They try to leave discreetly shortly after midnight in a Mercedes.

Chased by paparazzi on motorcycles, the powerful sedan careers at high speed into a pillar in an underpass near the Alma Bridge opposite the Eiffel Tower on the north bank of the River Seine.

Diana is pulled out of the Mercedes, which has been reduced to twisted metal, by rescue workers.

Al-Fayed and their chauffeur, who the probe shows had a high level of alcohol in his blood, die instantly. Their bodyguard is seriously injured.

Seven photographers are arrested. From the next day, photographs of the crash will be offered to magazines for a million dollars each.

Diana is taken to Pitie-Salpetriere university hospital where at 4:00 am (0200 GMT) she dies of massive chest injuries after two hours of desperate surgery.

France's ambassador to Britain telephones Queen Elizabeth II's aides at Balmoral, in Scotland, where the Queen, her husband the Duke of Edinburgh, Charles as well as the couple's two children, William, 15 and Harry, 12, are holidaying over the summer.

– The ‘people's princess' –

Britain awakes in mourning. Under a grey sky hundreds of tearful Londoners start to lay flowers in front of Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace, the princess's residence.

A tearful young Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair pays homage to “the people's princess”.

The world reacts with dismay. US president Bill Clinton says he is “profoundly saddened”.

In India Mother Teresa prays for Diana, just days before her own death, and US rock star Michael Jackson cancels a concert in Belgium in shock.

The press is the first to be accused. Diana's brother Charles Spencer says newspapers have blood on their hands.

Embarrassed, the British tabloid press elevates Diana to the status of an icon.

“Born a Lady. Became our Princess. Died a Saint,” writes the Daily Mirror.

– Popular grief –

The popular fervour grows. At Saint James's Palace, where Diana's body is taken, it takes eleven hours to reach condolence books.

“The vision of the bouquets of flowers is amazing: a veritable sea, almost a hundred metres long,” AFP writes.

The organisation of the funeral proves complex.

Since her divorce Diana is no longer known as “Her Royal Highness” and does not have the right to a state funeral, although she still had the title of princess.

But Britons call for a tribute worthy of their “queen of hearts”.

– Royal silence –

Anger mounts at the silence of the royal family, still holed up in Balmoral.

Newspapers, furious that the Union Jack flag is not flying at half-mast over Buckingham Palace, call on the Queen to address her subjects.

The Sun tabloid asks : “Where is our Queen?? Where is our flag??” It says not flying the flag is a “stark insult to Diana's memory “.

The Queen decides on September 5 to pay homage to her former daughter-in-law, whom she did not like, in a televised speech for only the second time in her reign. She then publicly bows before Diana's coffin.

“If they (the royals) fail to heed her lesson, they will bury not just Diana on Saturday — but their future too,” The Guardian broadsheet warns, as nearly a quarter of Britons call for the abolition of the monarchy in a poll.

– Billions watch funeral –

The next day, nearly a million people watch as the funeral procession passes in a deep silence punctuated by sobs and tolling bells.

Their heads bowed, the two princes follow the coffin, accompanied by Prince Charles, the Duke of Edinburgh and her brother Earl Spencer, under the eyes of 2.5 billion television viewers around the world.

At Westminster Abbey, 2,000 invitees, including US First Lady Hillary Clinton, Blair, opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, former Conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and US film star Tom Cruise attend the ceremony.

Elton John adapts his song “Candle in the Wind”, rewriting the lyrics in homage to Diana.

In the afternoon, the princess is buried discreetly on a small island at Althorp, Diana's ancestral home.

Emma Stone tops list of best paid actresses

Oscar-winning Emma Stone capped a perfect 12 months on Wednesday as she knocked Jennifer Lawrence off the top spot on Forbes' 2017 list of the world's highest-paid actresses.

Stone, 28, who won best actress for her role as a struggling performer in “La La Land,” made $26 million in pre-tax earnings in the year up to June, according to the magazine's annual chart.

“Friends” star Jennifer Aniston, 48, also leapfrogged Lawrence, grabbing the runner-up spot with earnings of $25.5 million, boosted by numerous endorsement deals across the world.

Lawrence's $24 million was enough for third spot but a shadow of the 27-year-old's earnings in the last Forbes list.

The star, who took the best actress Oscar for 2012 comedy-drama “Silver Linings Playbook,” topped the 2016 chart for a second successive year with $46 million.

Melissa McCarthy and Mila Kunis — on $18 million and $15.5 million respectively — rounded off the world's five highest-paid actresses.

The top 10 — also including Emma Watson, Charlize Theron, Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts and Amy Adams — made a combined $172.5 million, down 16 percent from last year's $205 million total, said Forbes.

The actors' list due to be published later in the week is expected to show once again men banking far more than their female counterparts.

The issue of pay disparity grabbed headlines in 2014 after a leak of stolen emails from Sony Pictures Entertainment showed that Lawrence was paid less than her male co-stars in the hit movie “American Hustle.”

Last year, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson topped Forbes' list of highest-paid actors at $64.5 million, more than double Stone's total this year.

It has been an incredible few months for Stone, who completed a clean sweep of Hollywood's major prizes in February with an Oscar for her performance as an aspiring actress in “La La Land.”

She had already picked up trophies at the Golden Globes, British BAFTAs and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Born Emily Jean Stone in Scottsdale, Arizona to a homemaker mother and businessman father, Stone began acting in youth theater in Phoenix.

At the age of just 14, she made a PowerPoint presentation entitled “Project Hollywood” to persuade her parents to allow her to drop out of school and pursue a movie career.

She has appeared in more than 20 movies since her 2007 debut in “Superbad” but really came to the fore as a major talent in “The Help,” Tate Taylor's 2011 drama about the racism faced by black maids in 1960s Mississippi.

A string of hit films followed, including two “Spider-Man” movies and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's “Birdman,” which earned Stone a best supporting actress nomination.

How Drake And Future Were Sued Over N9 Billion By Woman Who Was Allegedly...

A woman who was allegedly raped at a Drake/Future concert last year has filed a $25m lawsuit against the rappers.

The 28-year-old unnamed woman (simply identified as Jane Doe) attended the Drake/Future concert on August 14, 2016, at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, US.

She claims that during the show, she was approached by Leavy Johnson, who was an employee of Bridgestone Arena.

According to the woman, while she was trying to make her way backstage to meet the rappers, Johnson offered to help out, People Music reports.

The man then assaulted her, causing her severe physical and psychological injury, she said.

The woman claims that the rappers and their companies who organised the concert were negligent, hence her attack.

The Tennessean reports that Johnson has since been arrested and he's awaiting trial.

Johnson was indicted on a rape charge in the case in January and arrested months later in Florida.

Maintaining a good range of motion through flexibility

I have a new found love for being able to sit down cross legged – meditation style – after barely being able to tie my own shoe laces in the last trimester of my pregnancy.

Perhaps referring to my body as being rather flexible is a bit of a stretch (pun intended) but I pride myself in being capable of touching my toes without bending my knees which must count for something, right?

Although I've never tried gymnastics or ballet, I've always been fascinated by people who can do a split without batting an eyelid.

Maintaining a Good Range of Motion

Flexibility enhances your quality of life and the older you get, the more important it is to maintain a good range of motion in your joints.

It's not something that solely reserved for dancers and gymnasts and, in fact, limberness can be incorporated into your daily life through stretching and yoga.

Don't worry if you can barely get both elbows to touch at this point in time because flexibility is something you can train your body to adopt with practice. And at the end of it all, you may still be unable to touch the back of your head with your heel but at least you'll have improved the movement in your joints to some degree.

Benefits of flexibility

  1. Helps improve your posture and muscular balance especially if you happen to have a desk job or commute for long hours.
  2. Elongates muscles for a leaner look.
  3. Aids with post-workout muscle fatigue as well as sports performance since your limbs are extended.
  4. Reduces and/or prevents back pain by ensuring muscles in your lower body aren't too tight.
  5. Improves circulation of nutrients and blood in your body.
  6. Allows for more playroom in the bedroom. I mean, need I say more?

Here is a quick and easy video on flexibility for beginners:

Visitors flock to Belgium’s giant omelette festival despite scandal

About a thousand people flocked to the small Belgian town of Malmedy on Tuesday to eat a giant omelette made of 6,500 eggs, despite the country being at the centre of a scandal involving tainted eggs.

Belgium became the first country last month to officially notify the EU's food safety alert system of the presence of eggs contaminated by the insecticide fipronil, followed by the Netherlands and Germany.

The insecticide, which can harm human health, has since been discovered in eggs in 14 other European countries since the scandal came to light on August 1 and has even been found as far afield as Hong Kong.

It has forced millions of eggs to be removed from supermarket shelves and the closure of more than 150 farms in the Netherlands.

“We were hit full-on by the tainted eggs scare,” Rene Bourguignon said as he waited to prepare the omelette.

While at least 1,000 people braved rainy skies to get a bite, the turnout was far below last year's record 7,000.

The local branch of the World Giant Omelette Brotherhood has been organising the festival in Malmedy for more than 20 years.

It spent a week preparing for this year's culinary opus, collecting 6,500 eggs from carefully selected places instead of the usual 10,000.

“We have total confidence in our local products, our suppliers are local and they fulfilled every health guarantee we asked of them since the beginning,” Bourguignon said.

The number of attendees was a good sign, the Brotherhood's “grand master,” Jean-Pierre Gilles said.

“Of course, the public may have had its doubts and we did fear that a little, but seeing the numbers of people we saw today, I think it all went very well,” Gilles said.

“Any doubts were swept away by friendship and warmth.”

Made simply with eggs, bacon, oil and chives, and cooked over a wood fire, the omelette has been a fixture of the annual festival since the 1990s when Belgium was hit with a similar scandal — over chicken and eggs contaminated with dioxin, a known carcinogen.

Traces of fipronil found in the contaminated eggs are at very low levels.

“The media said you needed to eat eight eggs a day” for the insecticide to affect your health, local volunteer Gabiche Chleck said.

“Personally, there's no way I could eat all that.”

Kwaw Kesse will receive royalties once he re-registers – GHAMRO

Rapper Kwaw Kesse

The Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) says rapper Emmanuel Botwe, better known as Kwaw Kesse, will receive his royalties once he re- registers with the new music rights body.

Reacting to Kwaw Kese's claim that he has not received his royalties for the past 15 years, the music rights body explained that the rapper failed to register under the new administration.

Kwaw Kese speaking in an interview on the Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM with Doreen Andoh, revealed that he hasn't received any royalty from GHAMRO.

He added there was a physical altercation between the music rights body and his management the last time the tried to request for his royalties.

Prince Tsegah, Public Relations Officer of GHAMRO speaking in an interview with Hitz FM's Nana Kwame Larbi stated that, the rapper will receive his royalties as soon as he registers.

“I believe that Kwaw Kese has not received royalties simply because he did not re-register under the new dispensation of Kojo Antwi but as it stands now, Kwaw Kese is a known name in the industry so anytime he comes to GHAMRO to pick a form to register, he will receive his royalties,” he said.

Mr Tsegah, who hosts “U Sey Wetin” on Hitz FM, added that after Kojo Antwi took over from his predecessor Carlos Sekyi, steps were taken re-register members.

“When Kojo Antwi took over from the interim board of Carlos Sekyi, his administration noticed that there were a lot of ‘Ghost names' on the royalty payroll. So, in order to get rid of these ‘Ghost names' they asked members to re-register.”

The crew made its first stop in the capital city of the Northern Region

As indicated by C.E.O of Exclusive Events, Mariam Inna Patty, this year's contest will see the team travel to all 10 regions of Ghana to select the most qualified ladies for the pageant.

The cross-sectional approach of selecting the ladies has been necessitated by calls for a multicultural representation on the Miss Ghana stage.

The crew makes its first stop in the capital city of the Northern Region, Tamale on Thursday, August 10. The auditions will come off at the Global Dream Hotel.

Joy News' Doreen Avio, who is also the host of the Miss Ghana@60 Diaries, is with the team and reports of the warm reception they received from leaders and people of Tamale.

According to her, the team paid a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed who was so excited to see the delegation in the region.

The Minister noted that the Region's high poverty, illiteracy and their location are a disadvantage, especially to the youth because they make it very difficult for them participate in a lot of entertainment programs.

He acknowledged that the Miss Ghana pageant gives people the opportunity to participate and also get the exposure to learn from others.

Mr Saeed pledged his support for the pageant and hopes the queen for the 60th anniversary of the beauty competition, will come from the Northern Region.

Miss Ghana@ 60 Train will make a stop in Bolgatanga, the capital of the Upper East Region of Ghana for the second phase of the auditions. Ladies in Bolgatanga will have their turn to impress the judges on August 13, 2017, at the Akayet Hotel.
