Ceballos’ Arsenal stint

Dani Ceballos joined Arsenal on a season-long loan from Spanish giants Real Madrid last summer.

Ceballos had a promising start to life in England, putting on an emphatic display in his first start for the club as the Gunners beat Burnley 2-1. The Spaniard bagged two assists in that clash.

However, after setting the bar so high with that Burnley display, Ceballos has floundered somewhat.

The 23-year-old failed to provide a single goal contribution in Arsenal’s nine league ties following the Burnley win.

And the Los Blancos loanee has not featured for the North London outfit in the league since November but that has been, in part, due to some injury struggles.

However, Ceballos has been back from injury for some time now but he hasn’t featured very heavily for new Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta.

In fact, Ceballos has garnered just 21 minutes of action under Arteta, coming off the bench as Arsenal saw off Bournemouth in the 4th round of the FA Cup.

And it was even reported at the back end of January that the Spanish international wanted to leave Arsenal.

Ceballos, of course, didn’t depart the London outfit and now, ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Newcastle this Sunday, he has been speaking about Mikel Arteta.

The midfielder stated Arteta is a brilliant coach and has a philosophy of play which Ceballos thinks he fits perfectly.

Ceballos then claimed that after the winter break, he will be important:

“Mikel will be a brilliant coach. He has learned from Pep (Guardiola), he has a philosophy of play which I think I fit perfectly.

“It’s true he arrived in a difficult situation of the club, but mentally he’s exactly the kind of coach Arsenal need right now.

“I’ve been working with him for around two weeks and now I have to show him I’m good enough to play for Arsenal. After the winter break I will be important.” As quoted by Sky Sports News.
