One Chelsea exit is confirmed
Chelsea winger Pedro has confirmed that he will leave the club this summer when his contract expires, but isn’t thinking about his future right now.
Pedro’s future has been uncertain for a little while now, with his current deal set to expire over the summer.
The Spaniard has only featured nine times in the Premier League this season under Frank Lampard.
Though, since joining from Barcelona back in 2015, Pedro has racked up 201 appearances for the Blues.
He’s also scored 43 goals and assisted 28 during his time at Chelsea.
Now, he’s set to leave the club after confirming he will terminate his contract this summer.
‘I’m terminating my contract…’
Speaking to Cadena Ser, as cited by the Mail, Pedro confirmed he would be leaving Chelsea.
Though, he stressed that his future is not important right now, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘I’m terminating my contract, but right now it’s not the most important thing, nor have I stopped to think about it,’ he explained.
‘The most important thing is for everyone to show solidarity.
‘Whatever happens regarding my future will happen but right now is not important as we don’t even know when we will return to training.
‘We have been in quarantine because one of our players (Hudson-Odoi) tested positive for coronavirus, he is now well and we are very happy for him.’
Chelsea have already somewhat replaced Pedro.
The Blues have already completed a deal to sign Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech in the summer.
Jadon Sancho has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, and could also be recruited if Willian leaves.
The Brazilian’s contract is set to expire in the summer, much like Pedro’s.
