2020/21 Premier League & League Cup schedules announced/ FA Cup replays scrapped


A host of announcements regarding English competitions in the 2020/21 season have been forthcoming online on Thursday.

Premier League schedule

First up is the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

The English top-flight season, of course, normally begins sometime in August.

However, with the Covid-19-hit campaign not drawing to a close until July 26th, next season is set to start a bit later.

In an official announcement on the Premier League’s website and social media platforms, it was confirmed that England’s premier competition will return on September the 12th and will conclude on the 23rd of May.

The matchweek dates can be seen in full here. The Premier League are yet to release a fixture list, but they do say it will be announced no later than August 21st.

League Cup schedule & FA Cup replays

Elsewhere, announcements regarding the League Cup and FA Cup have also emerged on Thursday.

As per Sky Sports News, the 2020/21 League Cup is set to kick-off on September 5th.

But Premier League sides will not enter the competition until rounds two or three, meaning their League Cup campaigns start either on September 15th/16 or September 22nd/23rd.

The final is penned in for the 28th of February 2021.

And finally, the FA Cup schedule has been released, though, in an official statement by the FA, it has also been added that:

In order to assist in easing pressure on the football schedule, there will be no replays for the 2020-21 season.

The full 2020/21 schedule for Premier League teams can be seen below and there certainly isn’t a lot of breathing space.
