It was mixed feelings for Nigeria’s Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo as his goal counted for little as Southampton suffered defeat to Villarreal in a tune-up game.
Aribo joined the Saints this summer from the Scottish champion Rangers after a decent spell at the Ibrox.
Aribo started the game on Saturday against the Spanish side Villarreal and it ended in a 1-2 defeat for the host.
Gerrard Moreno opened the scoring for the Yellow Submarines in the 14th minute before Aribo levelled up with a magnificent solo effort in the 63rd minute.
Moreno completed his brace in the 72nd minute to secure a win for the Spanish club.
