The Federal Government urged the Canadian Government to ease the strict conditions in procuring visa for Nigerians.
The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola stated this during a courtesy visit by the High Commissioner of Canada to Nigeria, James Christoff, alongside his team.
Aregbesola added that the Canadian Government should assist Nigeria in sharing its technological innovations that will promote installation of facilities to monitor movements in Nigeria’s borders (high seas, lands, railways and schools) for quick responses on security matters. He noted that this would fast-track investment opportunities in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Canadian High Commissioner, Christoff had earlier revealed that the purpose of his visit was to strengthen bilateral co-operation with Nigeria in the areas of economy, security, technology, education and training of immigration officers on efficient border monitoring for security purposes.
In reaction to the plea, Christoff informed that Canadian Government will review some of the conditions in getting visa to Canada so that Nigerians can access Canada without much difficulties.
