Egyptian U20 coach, Mahmoud Gaber, has decided to open up on the reason they lost to Nigeria and their poor performance in the tournament.

The Young Pharaohs suffered a 0-1 defeat to Nigeria in the second group game and dropped to the 3rd position on the table.

Gaber cited injuries as one of the key reasons and also said his players were under pressure immediately after they conceded against Nigeria.

“The players were very tensed after the goal and felt under pressure, and this greatly affected them.

“We missed many opportunities, and if we were focused, we would have decided the match in our favour.”

“The injury affected us greatly in the second half. We will not blame the matter on injuries, but we lost many distinguished players before the tournament.

“But we are holding on to our hopes and we will fight to complete the campaign. Senegal is a strong team, but we will fight for the victory and to qualify”, Gaber said.
