Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi helped his team survive a relegation after 5-1 bashing of Brighton in their week 35 league game on Monday.

Seventh-placed Brighton and Hove welcomed Alex Iwobi’s Everton side to the Amex stadium in a dramatic sixhgoal thriller.

A minute into the game that kicked off at 5:30 pm Nigerian time, Dominic Calvert-Lewin combined nicely with Abdoulaye Doucoure to launch Everton ahead, with Doucoure bagging another goal in the first half assisted by Dwight McNeil.

Brighton’s goalie, Jason Steel also had a say on the scoresheet in the first 45, but to the detriment of his team, scoring an own goal to make it 3 – 0 for the away side going into the break.

Four players made the half more eventful by getting on the referee’s book, with Brighton’s Lewis Dunk in the 21st minute, alongside Everton’s Yerry Mina, Idrissa Gueye, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all yellow carded within 30 minutes.

Brighton’s boss, Roberto de Zerbi came into the second half with eyes lit with fire, as he made four changes in the 46th minute to find some sort of parity, but Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi had other plans as he assisted Dwight McNeil for Everton’s fourth goal of the day.

Alexis Mac Allister eventually pulled one back for the hosts in the 79th minute, but all hopes of any comeback were dashed when Amadou Onana helped Dwight get his second, and Brighton’s fifth goal.

Iwobi and Everton have now escaped relegation waters (for now) with three games to go for the Toffees and Sean Dyche, having two points over Leicester, Leeds and Nottingham on 30 points.
