Tragic circumstances continue to unfold in Chibok as it is revealed that approximately 37 parents of the schoolgirls abducted years ago have tragically passed away due to heartbreak.
The lingering anguish and worry over their daughters, who remain in captivity, have taken a severe toll on their health and well-being.
Pogu Yaga, a parent of one of the abducted girls, shed light on the devastating situation, stating that parents of the still-missing schoolgirls are slowly succumbing to the weight of their worry and heartbreak.
His remarks were made during the media screening of the documentary film ‘Nine Years, Life after Chibok Abduction,’ produced by Women Radio.
The film explores the experiences of survivors, parents, and siblings, offering insights into their lives after the abduction.
Yaga shared the heartbreaking statistic, saying, “37 parents have died so far. When you come to Chibok, you would see that they are all dying from worry and heartbreak.
Thank God that the former governor of our state, Kashim Shettima, is the present Vice-President-elect.
We are calling on him and pleading for the rescue of the remaining girls, as he tried to do during his tenure as governor. We also place our trust in the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
He has always been there for us, and we know that we would not be abandoned now.”
The Chibok community’s plea for help and swift action echoes the ongoing anguish and desperation felt by those affected by the mass abduction, which took place in 2014.
The situation serves as a reminder of the urgency and importance of finding a resolution to bring the remaining abducted girls back to their families, who have already endured unimaginable pain and loss.
As the community mourns the loss of 37 parents and continues to grapple with the trauma inflicted by the abduction, efforts to secure the release of the remaining girls are being intensified.
The plea extends to both Kashim Shettima, the Vice-President-elect and former governor of their state, and President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, with hopes pinned on their dedication and commitment to rescuing the abducted girls.
