The victorious young Teranga Lions of Senegal are on cloud nine after the country’s president HE Macky Sall showered cash rewards on the team.
The team emerged as the winner of the 2023 U17 African Cup of Nations in Algeria after they defeated the Junior Atlas Lions of Morocco 2-1 in the final.
They returned home last weekend and they were well-received by the president who rewarded the team with $17,000 for their efforts.
Apart from being the champions, Senegal will lead 3 other African nations, Morocco, Mali and Burkina Faso to the FIFA U17 World Cup later in the year.
