Barrister Chris Green, the former Chairman Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has argued that Joseph Onoja should have been invited as replacement for Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.
Green stated that players should be invited to the national teams based on current form adding that Onoja is the best defensive midfielder in Nigeria now.
Speaking in an exclusive interview Green said, “I wondered why Super Eagles coach didn’t invite Joseph Onoja ahead of Wilfred Ndidi. I think players are invited based on current form, and if that’s right then, Onoja should be in the team ahead of Wilfred Ndidi. He’s the best defensive midfielder we have in Nigeria right now and everyone can see his quality during the Super 6 Playoffs in Lagos.”
Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro invited four home-based players into the national team where two Rivers United players (Ebube Duru and Victor Sochima) were invited. The Nigeria national team resumed camping on Monday ahead of the CAF African Nations Cup qualifier game against Sierra Leone next Sunday.
