A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has remanded seven Yoruba Nation agitators who invaded Radio Nigeria, Amuludun FM, at the Abolongo correctional facility in Oyo town, until Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

It is being reported that the agitators took over the broadcast of Amuludun FM 99.1, Moniya, on May 28 for more than an hour, announcing their separation from the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

They were Noah Atoyebi, Adeleke Gbenga, Abdulganiyu Mustapha, Bashiru Kehinde, Ifagbola Elijah, Oladapo Ajani and Rasheed Jimoh. The suspects were arraigned on Tuesday on four counts of conspiracy and treason and two counts of armed robbery.

Counsel to one of the defendants, Abiodun Adeleke, requested medical attention for his client, Adeleke Gbenga, to which the prosecution officer, Inspector Folake Ewe, did not object.

Magistrate P. O. Adetuyi, who presided over the matter, did not take the plea of the defendants and ordered their remand at the Abolongo correctional facility in Oyo.

Adetuyi added that the case file should be duplicated and sent to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution for advice.

The magistrate, however, adjourned the case until September 13, 2023.
