Randy Waldrum says his Super Falcons have all it takes to stun England in the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

A 0-0 draw against Ireland on Monday night was enough for Nigeria to advance behind Australia, which closed the group stage with a thumping 4-0 win over Canada. It also meant that the 11-time African champions went through the group stage without a loss for the first time.

Waldrum said his team were improving but would have to do even better if they want to extend their World Cup, especially with England possibly looming.

“We have to be good defensively,” the American said.

“I think in the short time the team has been together they’ve done a good job with their defence.

“We now have to grow offensively. It will probably be England and I think you are going to get to watch a very good match.

“But we have to get better defensively first.
