The hope of D’Tigers emulating D’Tigress performance at the FIBA Afrobasket championship suffered a huge setback as they were defeated by Senegal in the first match of the Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament going on in Lagos.
D’Tigress emerged as the champions of the 2023 Women’s Afrobasketball championship beating Senegal in the final.
But the story was different on Monday evening in Lagos as Senegal triumphed the Nigeria Men basketball national team 93-87.
Despite proving a hard nut to crack, the host was able to peg back the Senegalese by winning the first quarter 26-25.
The French-speaking country pumped up the volume to win the second quarter 46-45.
D’Tigers bounced back strongly to win the 3rd quarter 68-67 before Senegal narrowly win the game in the final quarter 93-87.
