The Nigerian International was replaced at the start of the second half of the match against Shakhtar Donetsk played in Hamburg, Germany.
The coach of the team Sergio Conceicao confirmed that his substitution is for precautionary measure and nothing more.
The team returned to training on Thursday and Sanusi was among the absent players.
