Super Falcons forward, Toni Payne has said the team won’t take Cape Verde for granted in the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations final round, first leg qualifier.
The football star, who plays as a forward for Sevilla FC, expressed confidence that the Super Falcons can get the needed result in the encounter.
While calling on fans to come out enmasse to support the team, she noted that despite the withdrawal of some players, they still have good players that would deliver.
She said: “We are ready to take on the next opponents for the qualifiers. We haven’t played Cape Verde and definitely can’t take them for granted. All teams are improving and we have to play our best.
“It’s unfortunate not to have our players in the team for this camp but we also have good players like Gift Monday and Uchenna Kanu.
“I think we are very confident going into this match. Nigerians should come out and support us. We will build on what we have done last time and put out a good performance.”
The Super Falcons will confront their Cape Verdean counterparts ahead of the 13th edition of Africa’s flagship women football championship in Morocco.
