The Confederation of African Football has confirmed the dates for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be held in Morocco.
It was gathered that the announcement came after the CAF Executive Committee meeting in Cairo on Friday.
In a statement made available to the public, CAF President Patrice Motsepe said that this scheduling is designed to fit in with the broader international and domestic football calendars.
He said: ‘’The announcement of the dates of the CAF TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 took much longer than expected, as there were complex and at times challenging discussions with various interested parties, in the light of the extensive International and Domestic Match Calendars.”
Meanwhile, the President of the Moroccan Royal Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, emphasized the country’s commitment to hosting the tournaments under the best possible conditions.
“We hope that the CAF TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 will be the best event to honor Africa, and Morocco will make available the best conditions to host the rest of Africa and the World.”
