The Nigeria Wrestling Federation has commended Blessing Oborodudu for her resolve which earns her a chance to win a medal on Tuesday after falling in the semi-final match against Meerim Zhumanazarova.
The NWF President, Daniel Igali in a statement through the Federation Media Assistant, on Tuesday, Promise Okotoko, lauded the resilience and dogged disposition of the Blessing Oborodudu, who also won a silver medal at the last Olympics in Tokyo.
Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu fell 1-3 to Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan in the semifinals of the women’s 68kg wrestling event on Monday night.

On the road to the semi-finals, Blessing Oborodudu currently ranked sixth in the world came from 2-0 down to beat Canadian Morais Linda 8-2 in the round of 16, and followed that up with a 6-2 quarter final win over her France opponent Koumba Larroque.
The Wrestling Federation described the performance as a manifestation to her drive, passion, and personal commitment to her nation.
NWF although expressed sadness over the result, stressing the odds Oborodudu defied to be in Paris.
However, Blessing Oborodudu will have a chance to clinch a bronze on Tuesday when she battles in the bronze bout.
The NWF concluded by appealing to Nigerians to put the wrestlers in their prayers as more athletes hope to make the country proud.
