Côte d’Ivoire, Canada Strengthen Trade Deal

Canada’s Minister, Joly signed the agreement with Wautabouna Ouattara, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Côte d’Ivoire, as part of the Canadian Commercial Corporation framework.

The development marks a significant advancement in enhancing trade cooperation between the two nations. Minister Ouattara praised the bilateral efforts that have led to considerable financial and technical support for the Ivorian government.

The memorandum aims to outline the expectations of both parties and facilitate information exchange across various sectors, including infrastructure, transportation, energy, health, housing, education, agriculture, and green energy.

“As part of its National Development Plan (NDP, 2021-2025), Canada is providing support to our country with a contribution of 69 billion CFA francs, fulfilling its financing commitments as of the end of 2023,” revealed Minister Ouattara.

He also highlighted the alignment of perspectives between Abidjan and Ottawa on international matters and the challenges facing the Sahel and the Gulf of Guinea, such as the resurgence of terrorism, violent extremism, and maritime piracy.
