The president of the Benin Republic Football Association Mathurin de Chacus has threatened to withdraw his country’s club from participating in the CAF Inter-Club competitions if Coton FC and Dadje FC failed to make it beyond the preliminary round.

Coton FC won the 2023/2024 Benin League season and qualified to represent the country in the Champions League while Dadje FC finished second to play in the Confederation Cup.

Both clubs recorded an impressive result in the first leg of the preliminary round.

Coton picked away a draw against Douanes of Senegal, while Dadje FC held Nigeria’s El Kanemi Warriors to a 1-1 draw.

Chacus on Wednesday stated that he will consider withdrawing the clubs from participating in the Inter-Club competitions for at least 3 years and prepared for a better future.
