Ethiopia Submits Bid For AFCON 2029

Ethiopia has submitted its bid to stage the continent’s biggest football competition, the 2029 African Cup of Nations.

The bid was formally presented during CAF’s General Assembly in Addis Ababa, underscoring Ethiopia’s preparedness and dedication to upgrading its sports infrastructure.

“Ethiopia, a founding member of CAF, has always shown great enthusiasm for football.

“We deeply appreciate their hospitality and will thoughtfully consider their proposal to host the 2029 tournament,” CAF president Patrice Motsepe said.

While Morocco is slated to host AFCON 2025, the host for 2027 has been temporarily awarded to Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.
