Enyimba rallied from a two-goal deficit to force a 2-2 draw with CAF Confederation Cup defending champions, Zamalek of Egypt at the Godswill Akpabo Stadium in Uyo on Sunday.
After a testy opening, the Egyptian giants struck first through their Tunisian striker, Seifeddine Jaziri who scored in the 33rd minute.
Seven minutes later, Zamalek were two goals up as an unmarked Omar Faraj was offered an open cheque in another Enyimba defensive blunder as he blasted the ball into an empty net after Enyimba goalkeeper, Ani Azoemena had collided with his defender.
But in added time of the second half, Ifeanyi Ihemekwele, in a breakaway move outpaced Egyptian defence and chipped the ball past an onrushing goalkeeper, Mohamed Awad to reduce the tally to 2-1.
In the second half, Ufere Chinedu salvaged a point for Enyimba with a deflected strike outside the penalty area in the 58th minute.
With this draw, Zamalek temporarily leads Group D with four points, edging out Egyptian counterparts Masry by one point who will play Black Bulls of Mozambique later on Sunday.
Zamalek are scheduled to face Masry in the third round of Group D fixtures on 15 December, while Enyimba will visit the Black Bulls on the same day.
