The Nigeria’s Future Eagles on Sunday were forced to a 1-1 draw in the second leg of the international friendly game with Morocco U16 national team.
The Nigeria U15 team drew the first blood when Praise Adugbo scored in the 12th minute into the game.
Having lost the first leg (0-2) to Morocco last Thursday, the Patrick Bassey led team were on the verge of sweet revenge before a penalty was awarded and converted by Moroccan forward five minutes into the end of the match.
All efforts of the Nigerians to edge the hosts proved abortive as the center referee sounded the final whistle.
The match which commenced at 5:00pm was held at the Complexe Mohammed VI de Football.
The Nigeria Football Federation under FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme (TDS) invited over 90 players into camp in June, 2024 before the players were pruned down to 22 who traveled to Morocco on Wednesday for first international friendly match.
The main goal of FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS) is to help raise the standards of national-team football around the world for both men and women, driven by FIFA’s desire for a long-term dedication to global talent development.
In December 2022, the FIFA Council approved a funding allocation of USD 200 million to cover the 2023-2026 operational lifecycle of this ground-breaking initiative, and at its most recent meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, on 14 March, the Council also approved a set of regulations laying out the principles and distribution of funding and the process of approval, as well as the rights and obligations of member associations.
The TDS was presented in greater detail at the FIFA Congress on 16 March and was warmly welcomed by the delegates in attendance.
