Chairman, National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko has stated that all sports clubs that will represent Nigeria at international competitions will henceforth get financial aid from the Federal Government.
Giving insight into the 2025 budget for National Sports Commission, the Chairman of the Commission, Shehu Dikko while speaking with FCT SWAN Executive during a courtesy visit last Thursday said money has been approved by the federal government to assist sports clubs that represent Nigeria at international competitions.
He said, “certain amount of money has been earmarked to assist all sports clubs going for international competitions. Not only football clubs but others sports inclusive. They’re representing our country and most times lack of funds affected their performance negatively.
“So, in order to enhance good performance for our clubs, the federal government approved the funds in the 2025 budget.
He added that all sports federations will also receive annual financial support to reduce financial burden while carrying out their activities.
“The days when sports federations will not get their annual budget is over. All they have to do is to provide us with contents. That’s, they should organise national and local competitions particularly in the grassroots. If that is done, such federation will surely get financial aid from National Sports Commission because it is included in the budget.”
