Police arrest 3 cultists, foil car snatching attempt in Abuja

The Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has said it has arrested a three-man cultist gang operating along the Lungu axis of Galadima, a suburb in the FCT.

The police said the suspects were arrested while preparing to attack some residents by Police Operatives from Galadima Division during a routine patrol.

The suspects are James Oche 22years, Promise Richard 21years and Emmanuel Moses 27yeras all male said they have carried out several robbery operations within the city before the hands of the law caught up with them.

A statement signed by FCT PRO, ASP Yusuf Mariam said exhibits recovered from them are: one (1) locally fabricated gun and one (1) knife.

She said: “The FCT Police Command in the wee hours of Sunday 18th April 2021 arrested a three-man cultist gang operating along Lungu axis of Galadima.”

In a related development, Police Operatives from Mabushi Division also foiled an attempt to snatch a vehicle along Nicon Junction.

Mariam said the police received a distress call from the victim of the car theft, stressing that the swift response of the officers on duty gave the suspects a hot chase and recovered the vehicle.

She, however, noted that the three-man car snatching syndicate engaged the Operatives in a gun duel, adding that one of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries and was taken to the hospital where the doctor confirmed him dead while the other two fled.

Exhibit recovered from them include one (1) black colour Toyota Corolla with registration number RBC 802 BJ.

The PRO added that effort is in top gear to arrest the fleeing suspects, noting that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
