The cycling competition which featured 39 cyclists from Oyo, Lagos and Ogun State was organised by Alfa Cycling Concept in collaboration with Ijebu Divisional Office of Ogun State Sports Council as part of efforts to discover more talents across the South-West zone in Nigeria.
The event was proudly organised under the support and Chairmanship of Hon. (Barr.) Moses Osinubi, the Chief Executive Officer, Wesco Lotto.
The 10km cycling event commenced from Ejinrin Road through Imowo, Ijari, Igbeba Road and finally ended at the Awujale’s Palace. And the event was a successful one with no casualty recorded.
With this development, Ogun State cycling team led by Coach Kamoli Amoo has proved to be a force to reckon with in the zone and Nigeria in general, having embarked on grassroot development across the state.
Meanwhile, the Ijebu Divisional Officer, Joseph Babajide Babajide noted that the program was purely a grassroot programme, whereby many of the cyclists came from neighboring towns in the state.
He said: “Some of them came from Ijebu, just as one of our retired coaches, Coach Bamidele Ogundeko prepared them some years ago.
“In fact, the coach was the initiator of the program, but he couldn’t continue anymore due to old age and demised of his beloved wife.”
