Super Eagles of Nigeria have set up a Round of 16 clash with Carthage Eagles of Tunisia who fell to Gambia on Thursday night.

The 2004 African champions booked their spot in the knockout phase of the competition as one of the four third-placed teams after a shock 1-0 defeat to the Gambia on Thursday evening.

Prior to Thursday nights showdown against the Scorpions, Tunisia required a victory to finish second as runners-up.

To reach the quarter final of Cameroon 2021, Augustine Eguavoen’s team must negotiate their way past Mondher Kebaier’s side.

The encounter holds on Sunday at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua with the winner facing either Gabon or Burkina Faso in the quarter-final.

Tunisia and Nigeria have met four times in the history of the competition, albeit, it is the Super Eagles who hold the upper hand.

Their last clash was in Egypt 2019 when Odion Ighalo’s first-half goal settled the third-place clash between Gernot Rohr’s boys and the North African giants in the fight for a bronze medal.
