Leicester City boss, Brendan Rodgers, has revealed that Leicester City could retain the services of Nigerian star Ademola Lookman because of his brilliant performances this season.
The 24-year-old forward is currently on loan from Bundesliga outfit, RB Leipzig, with the deal set to expire at the end of the season. But he has proven his quality, notching six goals and four assists in 29 appearances, ten of which have been as substitutes.
Leicester’s boss is pleased with his efforts, and despite the Foxes’ poor campaign this season; he is open to retaining the former Everton man.
“It’s something between the club, his representatives and his club that he is signed for,” Rodgers told Foxes of Leicester.
“It’s something we have to look at. But he’s made the impact that I wanted in terms of his games and his goalscoring. He scored more goals and more assists in this period than in all of last season.
“I said to get to that next level, it’s all about efficiency. He’s clearly got the ability, but you have to produce the numbers when you’re an attacking player, and he’s definitely done that.
Let’s see if he can finish in double figures by the end of the season, and then he will have had a really productive season. Then we can sit down and look at it then.” He added.
Lookman has had a nomadic career, playing in four different clubs in the last four years but failing to make a mark.
His contract at RB Leipzig expires in 2024, and with his evaluation just below 10million euros, Leicester City could splash the cash to keep their asset.
