While Nigerians were still grieving amidst the calamitous destruction of facilities at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, key officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) abandoned the Super Eagles and the disappointed Nigerians to attend the scheduled FIFA World Cup draw in Qatar.
SportingSun understands that the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, his first and second vice chairmen, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi and Mallam Shehu Dikko all left Abuja Tuesday night for the draw.
According to a usually reliable source in the football house, Amaju, Dikko and Akinwunmi all left for Qatar the night we failed to qualify and there was pandemonium at the stadium plus the tragic loss of the CAF doctor.
“Can you imagine the mentality of those administering our football? They couldn’t even wait a day to attend to matters that cropped up after the match like the death of the CAF medical officer.
“One of the coaches, Emmanuel Amuneke who was also invited has refused to attend because he claimed the mood in the country does not permit for him to travel for such event,” the source said.
