Arsenal, Chelsea & Man United stars named on Golden Boy shortlist

The nominees for the latest edition of the UEFA Golden Boy award have, on Thursday, been announced.

Felix crowned

The Golden Boy accolade is of course handed out on an annual basis, to a player under the age of 21, deemed to have enjoyed the finest 12 months in one of Europe’s top leagues.

The award, which was first handed out in 2003, is voted for by a panel of expert journalists.

Previous winners have gone on to develop into some of world football’s finest, including the likes of Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero.

The current holder is Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix.

PL starlets up for award

As outlined above, though, Felix’s reign as Europe’s ‘Golden Boy’ is soon set to come to an end.

This comes with the latest list of nominees for this year’s award having been revealed by UEFA this afternoon.

Young talents from a host of countries across the globe have been included, with England the most heavily represented – Bukayo Saka, Mason Greenwood, Phil Foden, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Jadon Sancho are all up for the prize.

Elsewhere, Barcelona pair Ansu Fati and Sergino Dest are also named, with Rennes sensation Eduardo Camavinga no doubt amongst the favourites, alongside the prolific Erling Haaland.
