Aouar interest cooled
Arsenal are in desperate need of added creativity this January and the club will look to find it using the winter window. Several names have already been discussed from the summer and also throughout the current campaign.
Arsenal have already missed out on Hungarian attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai. The Red Bull Salzburg prodigy moved to RB Leipzig with the deal set to become official on January 1st.

The Gunners were linked with a move for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar. The Gunners were reported to be protracted bidders for the Frenchman during the last window and ultimately missed out on his signing and chose to pursue a deal for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.
A move for the 22-year old was tipped to be reignited this January, however, reports from The Athletic have determined that Arsenal’s interest in the France international have cooled in recent weeks.
This may be partly down to Aouar’s character. 101 spoke recently to French Football expert Jeremy Smith and he had this to say of the 22-year-old.
“All this again leads to the fact that, while everything around him is ticking along well, he is at his best and most comfortable. But when others are off their best, I don’t think he does enough – at least not yet – to raise his game and raise the game of those around him, as top players should,” said Smith.
Right now, Arsenal need someone who is going to drag their team forwards and bring other players up to their own level. Based on the words of Jeremy Smith, it appears Aouar may not be this player and partly the reason why Arsenal have chosen not to pursue him so heavily this winter window.
Who should Arsenal pursue?
With Aouar seemingly off the table, the question will now be who should Arsenal look to bring in this January? There are plenty of options around Europe which Arsenal could pursue, however, the Gunners seemingly have a very pressing needs to add ready-made quality into the team.
This means adding players who have experience of playing in the Premier League and will therefore not need time to adapt a rigours of England’s top flight. One such player would be Norwich City’s Emi Buendia.

The Argentine attacking midfielder has played both centrally and in wide positions for the East Anglian Club. Finishing in the top 10 chance creators in last season’s Premier League, Buendia has continued his fantastic form into the Championship after the Canaries were relegated.
Norwich City Boss Daniel Farke has not wished to discuss the future of his star playmaker. This is unsurprising considering how highly rated and how integral he is to Norwich’s line-up.
Arsenal need to be ruthless in the next window and buying from their English competitors is going to be one of the ways in which they can succeed. Considering the perilous situation that Arsenal find themselves in, smart decisions are going to ultimately be the difference between a turnaround and a continuous slump which could even threaten relegation.
