Arsenal have expressed an interest in Roma’s Amadou Diawara – Telegraph

Recent days have seen Arsenal linked with a move for AS Roma midfielder, Amadou Diawara.

Roma stint

Roma acquired Diawara’s services from fellow Italian outfit Napoli this past summer.

Roma are understood to have paid just shy of £19m for the defensive-minded midfielder.

Since making the switch to the Italian capital, Diawara has gone on to feature 31 times across all competitions, with some injury issues ruling him out of several games this past term.

For the most part though, the 23-year-old has proven a solid addition to the base of the Giallorossi’s midfield.

Arsenal links

One side who Diawara’s displays have seemingly caught the eye of is Arsenal.

The Gunners appear to be on the lookout for midfield reinforcements this summer with Thomas Partey heavily tipped to make the move to the Emirates.

And the latest midfielder to have caught their eye looks to be Diawara, with reports in the Italian press earlier this week touting a potential swap deal between Lucas Torreira and Diawara.

Torreira has long been linked with a return to Italy with the player himself recently suggesting he would be open to departing Arsenal.

Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano was drawn on said swap deal on Wednesday evening, claiming nothing is advanced at the moment.

And now, on Thursday, the Telegraph have also picked up on a potential deal between Arsenal and Diawara.

They report that the Gunners have indeed expressed an interest in the midfield stopper, though talks are at a very early stage with no formal approach made as of yet.
