Arsenal see off Brighton

Arsenal faced off with Brighton on Tuesday evening as they looked to build on their huge win over London rivals, Chelsea.

Despite picking up a win over the Blues, the Gunners still headed into the Brighton tie down in 15th place.

As a result, Mikel Arteta and co. will no doubt have been desperate to pick up another huge three points on the South Coast.

And when all was said and done on Tuesday, win is exactly what Arsenal managed.

Goals were once again in short supply for the Gunners, but Alexandre Lacazette was able to come off the bench and net the only goal of the game 66 minutes in, moving Arsenal up to 13th in the table.

Smith Rowe on Arteta & playing for Arsenal

Whilst Lacazette was, of course, receiving praise for being the match-winner on Tuesday, a couple of other stars, specifically the youngsters, impressed vs Brighton and in the previous tie vs Chelsea.

Bukayo Saka shone vs the Seagulls, setting up Lacazette for the only goal of the game.

But credit should also be given to Emile Smith Rowe. The midfielder started in both of Arsenal’s recent wins, with his energy, passing and drive to create key to the Londoner’s recent success.

Now, Smith Rowe has opened up on his recent games for Arsenal, praising Mikel Arteta for showing faith in him:

“I’ve really enjoyed it.

“It’s a dream for me to play for this club. I’m so happy and grateful that the manager’s shown faith in me and given me the chance. I’ve just got to keep training hard, and then when I get the opportunity I’ve got to take it.

“It was a tough game. Brighton showed a lot of confidence tonight. They didn’t play too long ago so it was a really tough game for us, but I feel like it really opened up for us in the second half. We’re really happy with the three points and I think we deserved it.

“Mikel told us the game would open up in the second half so we just tried to keep the belief, the confidence and you could see we started to create more chances. Laca got the goal that helped us.”
