Barcelona have enquired about taking Tottenham’s Sessegnon on loan/ Mourinho looking to hand youngster more opportunities

An update regarding Ryan Sessegnon’s short-term future has been forthcoming online on Saturday.

Sessegnon’s struggles for minutes

Ryan Sessegnon made the switch to Tottenham last summer from Fulham.

Spurs are understood to have paid £25m for the versatile youngster’s services.

However, despite the fairly hefty fee which the Lilywhites forked out, Sessegnon has barely featured for the Lilywhites.

In fact, the full-back garnered just 12 outings during his debut campaign in north London, only nine of which came as a starter and of those nine starts, Sessegnon would only complete 90 minutes on seven occasions.

Such limited minutes led to speculation last month that the England under-21 international could be sent out on loan for the forthcoming campaign with a number of potential suitors already appearing to show an interest.

Both Sessegnon’s former club Fulham and Dutch powerhouse Ajax have been tipped as potential landing spots for the Englishman.

Barca enquired about Sessegnon

However, if the aforementioned update from The Athletic is to be believed, then there is a good chance, despite his struggles in 2019/20, that Sessegnon could be staying put next season.

As per the Athletic, Barcelona enquired about a possible loan move for the Spurs man.

Ajax, AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen, Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Celtic are also named as sides believed to have shown an interest in Sessegnon.

But Jose Mourinho is said have rejected that offer from Barca with the current plan for Sessegnon to spend the season at Tottenham, according to The Athletic.
