Barcelona reportedly reach agreement with Norwich’s Max Aarons as Dest inches towards Bayern

The latest word stemming from the Spanish media on Monday suggests that Barcelona have reached an agreement on the terms of a contract with Max Aarons.

Norwich standout

20-year-old right-back Aarons made the move to Carrow Road in 2016, from Luton Town.

And, after impressing as part of the Canaries’ youth ranks, Aarons was subsequently fast-tracked into the club’s first-team setup in 2018.

The gifted stopper went on to play a key role in Norwich’s return to the Premier League, racking up 2 goals and 6 assists across 41 Championship appearances.

His fine displays, meanwhile, subsequently carried into the English top-flight, as Aarons’ reputation as a potential star in the making continues to grow.

Across the entirety of last season, the youngster started in all but 2 of Norwich’s 38 league outings.

Barca bound?

However, with Daniel Farke’s outfit having of course finished dead bottom of the Premier League table, and now plying their trade back in England’s 2nd-tier, rumours have inevitably begun to circulate that Aarons could soon be on the move.

Reports earlier this year saw all of Arsenal, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund hotly-tipped to swoop for the Norwich star.

European champions Bayern Munich, meanwhile, have also been named as admirers.

As outlined above, however, if the latest word stemming from Europe this evening is to be believed, then Aarons in fact appears to be inching towards another of football’s heavyweights.

The outfit in question? Barcelona.

As reported by Guillem Balague of Spanish outlet Sport, the Blaugrana are readying a push for the young stopper’s signature.

This of course comes with current Barca right-back Nelson Semedo on the verge of a move to Wolves.

Norwich, for their part, are said to be demanding a fee of €20 million, along with 10 million in potential bonuses, to part with Aarons, though the transfer chiefs at the Camp Nou are hopeful of striking a deal for a lower fee.

A loan deal could even be potentially be found, but only if Barcelona agree to an obligation to buy next summer.

Significantly, it is also claimed that the Catalan giants have already reached an agreement with Aarons himself, over the terms of a 5-year-contract.

Barca’s fresh interest in the 20-year-old comes with first-choice target, Ajax’s Sergino Dest, expected to seal a move to Bayern Munich over the coming days.
