Barcelona reportedly set to table fresh offer for Man City’s Eric Garcia in next transfer window

Garcia eyeing Man City exit

Spanish defender Eric Garcia joined Manchester City’s youth ranks from Barcelona back in 2017.

And, towards the end of last season in particular, the 19-year-old began to cement himself as a regular in the club’s backline.

Garcia isn’t the most physically imposing central defender, but his intelligence and ability on the ball more than make up for that.

The youngster also appeared to be forming a promising partnership with Aymeric Laporte.

In a blow for Man City, though, they will soon be forced into parting ways with Garcia.

This comes with Pep Guardiola having confirmed back in August that the stopper won’t be renewing his contract, which is set to run out next summer.

Barcelona to make Garcia offer

On the back of Guardiola’s comments, Barcelona, Garcia’s former club, have been the outfit most heavily linked with a move for the 19-year-old.

No transfer was forthcoming over the summer, though, with Garcia now set to stay at the Etihad until at least January.

And, despite his future seemingly lying elsewhere, Pep Guardiola has opted to utilise the stopper several times already this campaign.

The City boss even recently revealed his hopes of seducing his fellow countryman into staying put and signing a new deal.

This, of course, would come as pretty bad news for Barca, who had hopes of landing a superb prospect for free in the summer.

However, the Blaugrana have seemingly not given up in their pursuit of Garcia.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, the Catalan giants are set to make another offer for the stopper in the upcoming winter window.

The proposal is expected to be worth around €8m, as Barca feel they shouldn’t have to fork over a premium sum, given Garcia’s contract situation.
