Benrahma to West Ham could be off / Bournemouth’s Joshua King supposedly the Hammers’ Priority

Fallen apart

Reports on Monday evening have suggested that Said Benrahma’s proposed move to West Ham is in danger of breaking down. The Algerian winger is currently away on international duty, and had been expected to return to England to complete a move.

Brentford failed to earn promotion to the Premier League last season, with many high-profile departures having been predicted as a result. Forward Ollie Watkins left to join Aston Villa in a big-money deal set to rise to a potential £33 million.

Goalkeeper David Raya was also supposedly courted by Arsenal, but no deal could be agreed.

Benrahma, meanwhile, was expected to be next through the exit doors in west London.

This evening’s reports, though, suggest that the winger is very unhappy, with Brentford having ‘broken promises’ regarding his future, throwing West Ham’s swoop up in the air.

Norwegian Focus

The Hammers, as a result, now look set to push ahead with attempts to sign Bournemouth’s Joshua King. The Norway international has been reported to be seeking a quick return to the Premier League, having suffered relegated with the Cherries last season.

Such a move, on the surface, however, appears a little strange, considering West Ham’s striking options. Michail Antonio and Sebastian Haller have both been in fine scoring form in the league and cup competitions thus far this season.

With Felipe Anderson having also secured a loan move to Porto, a swoop for a winger would therefore make the most sense for the Irons.

The domestic window, though, does leave David Moyes and co. in a state of restriction. With only 4 days remaining to sort out any final deals, West Ham are no doubt eager to find a swift solution to their search for attacking reinforcements, ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.

The Londoners are set to face capital rivals Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Sunday at 16:30.
