When you see the word ‘life’ in the New Testament Bible, its important to find out what that word refers to, because the New Testament Bible was originally written in Greek and then translated to the English language.
There are actually 3 different greek words translated as life in the new testament. One word translated life in the new testament is called ‘Psuche: the soulish life’, and this is the life of man. A second word translated life in the new testament is ‘Zoe: the Eternal, divine life of God’. This is the word ‘life’ referenced in John 10:10.
John 10:10 KJV “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have LIFE, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
Notice that Jesus was speaking to men who were breathing, yet he was telling them he came to give them life. Thats because he was referring to a different type of life, Zoe, the life of God. Since what they had was ‘Psuche’.
John 3:5-7 NLT “Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’”
John 1:12-13 KJV “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
So Eternal life is the life of God, the very essence of divinity. And when a man believes in Jesus, he is reborn spiritually as an a new creature with this new life. Born of God with eternal life.
1 John 5:11-13 MSG “This is the testimony in essence: God gave us eternal life; the life is in his Son. So, whoever has the Son, has life; whoever rejects the Son, rejects life. My purpose in writing is simply this: that you who believe in God’s Son will know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life, the reality and not the illusion.”
John 3:16 KJV “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Mark 16:15-18 KJV “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
Jesus said in the above scriptures, “these signs shall follow them that believe…they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them.
So when you believe in Jesus and are born again with eternal life, you cannot be poisoned, rather you have the healing life of God in you, working in you and flowing from you. Halleluyah!!!
We see the Apostle Paul, so conscious of Eternal life, such that when he was bitten by a deadly snake he just shrugged it off, knowing he could not be poisoned. And when the people saw what happened, they said he was a god and they brought the sick to him and he healed them. Halleluyah!!! ( Read Acts28:1-9)
Paul said, having received the gift of righteousness which is eternal life, we reign in life by Jesus Christ. So we reign in life over sickness and death, and even over the devil.
Jesus said in John 11:26 “And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
This is what God expects to happen if you have eternal life. As a new creature with eternal life, you should never die.
But do you believe this and are you conscious of this as your reality?
2 Tim1:10 “But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel”
The bible says in the above scripture that Jesus brought life and immortality. So Let this be your mindset. ‘I have Zoe, i have eternal life, i have the life of God, so i shall never die. Rather i live above sickness and death and reign in life by Jesus Christ. Glory to God!!!
Confession:
I am born of God, with the life and nature of God. I have life with immortality. As Jesus is, so am i in this world. I am a quickening spirit, a life giving spirit. I impart this eternal life to my body, so that i live in health and strength, and this life flows from me to my world. I live above the death, decadence and corruption in the world, for i have the incorruptible life of God. Halleluyah!!!
