Chelsea sign Sarr

Chelsea have officially announced the signing of Malang Sarr on Thursday.

The 21-year-old centre-back had previously been plying his trade with Ligue 1 outfit Nice, but left the French side when his contract expired this summer.

As a result, the stopper has now penned a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Sarr will not spend the 2020/21 campaign with the Blues, though, as he is instead set to be sent out on loan.

Chelsea land Chilwell

Elsewhere on the Chelsea front, Ben Chilwell has opened up on a whole host of topics regarding his new club.

Chilwell is, of course, the latest big name to make the move to Chelsea this summer

This comes with the Blues having already secured the services of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

Thiago Silva is also expected to make the move to Stamford Bridge imminently, with Kai Havertz believed to be close to a move, too.

Before that, though, Chelsea confirmed the signing of now-former Leicester full-back Chilwell on a five-year deal on Wednesday:

The Londoners are understood to have forked over a fee of close to £45m for the defender, who will earn around £190,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge.

Chilwell on injury & Lampard

Since signing for the Blues, meanwhile, Chilwell has, as mentioned above, opened up during an extensive interview with the club’s official website.

First, the Englishman highlighted the role played by Frank Lampard in his transfer, with Chilwell having confirmed that talking to the Chelsea boss ‘really made up his mind’:

“I think every player wants to play for a huge club in their career and I’m no different, but talking to Frank before I signed really made up my mind that I wanted to come and play here.

“He installed a lot of confidence in me, he told me about the system he wants to play, how I’d fit into that and he just seemed a really good guy that you could talk to about anything. It’s important to have that relationship and trust with a manager and he’s also very keen on young players being given a chance.”

It’s worth noting that a similar explanation was provided by Timo Werner, following the German’s Stamford Bridge switch.

Chilwell, meanwhile, also went on to discuss his current injury issue, which ruled the stopper out of Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad:

“I’m feeling really good. The injury is healing really well and I’ve been doing a lot of fitness work over the past four or five weeks.”
