Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, has met H.E. Mr. Kacou Houadja Léon Adom, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Ivorians Abroad of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire on Sunday.
During the meeting, Minister Kamikawa appreciated the warm hospitality extended by Côte d’Ivoire whole visiting the African country in April 2024, stating that she would like to further strengthen its cooperative relations with Côte d’Ivoire, which serves as a hub for Francophone West Africa and is an important partner for Japan.
Reacting to, Kamikawa’s statement, Minister Adom, expressed his gratitude for Japan’s cooperation to date and stated that bilateral relations are at a historic high, and expressed his expectations for further investment by Japan.
Minister Kamikawa also stressed on utilizing the officials in charge of cross-border economic affairs and the two ministers concurred on cooperating for the success of the Japan-Africa Public-Private Economic Forum to be held in Côte d’Ivoire in December, with the increase in investment from Japan in mind.
The two ministers also agreed on further working together in wide-ranging areas, including strengthening regional connectivity through infrastructure development and the rule of law including strengthening local police training and capacity building in the criminal and judicial fields.
