The reliable David Ornstein has today provided an update on the situation of Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Auba’s uncertain future

Speculation surrounding the future of Gunners star man Aubameyang has been rampant for some time now.

This comes with the 31-year-old’s current deal at the Emirates set to expire next summer.

Aubameyang has once again proven himself to be Arsenal’s most important player to this point in the campaign, having racked up 27 goals across all competitions.

This includes a brace over the weekend, as Mikel Arteta’s men finished out their Premier League season with a 3-2 win over Championship-bound Watford.

As such, with few positive signals having emerged from the club regarding the possibility of Aubameyang extending his stay, Arsenal’s fans have understandably begun to express their concerns over the possibility of their top scorer moving on.

Speaking on the back of his Man of the Match display versus Norwich earlier this month, meanwhile, Aubameyang himself was also keen to keep his cards close to his chest when drawn on his future in north London:

‘We’ll see. We’ll talk with the club and see what happens. I’m really focused on the games. Since Mikel is in we’re doing well. We’re working well. We have signs we’re improving.’

‘Happy’ at Arsenal

As outlined above, though, an update on the situation has today been forthcoming, courtesy of the most reliable of sources.

As per David Ornstein of the Athletic, Aubameyang remains ‘happy’ at the Emirates.

In addition, the Gabonese international stands as a popular figure amongst Arsenal’s players and staff alike, with ‘Auba’ having no complaints over his current role under Mikel Arteta.

Negotiations over the terms of a new deal are, in turn, underway, with Head of Football Raul Sanllehi the man tasked with thrashing out an agreement.

Significantly, however, an insight into Aubameyang’s plans if he does eventually come to the decision to move on has also been provided.

It is claimed that the Arsenal hitman would rather a move abroad over remaining in England.

Inter Milan and Barcelona remain ‘keen’ on his signature, with Italian champions Juventus also keeping a close eye on the situation.

Ceballos staying put?

In further news surrounding the future of one of Arsenal’s stars today, meanwhile, an update on Dani Ceballos has been forthcoming from Spain.

As per a report from AS (cited by Sport Witness), the Gunners are on the verge of tieing their midfield loanee down for a further year.

It is not clear whether such a deal would be courtesy of a permanent transfer or a loan, though it is likely that the latter would still require a significant fee, followed by an obligation to buy next summer.
