Donny van de Beek’s agent hits out at Man United over Dutchman’s role: ‘A substitute; I don’t like it at all’

Van de Beek’s agent unhappy with Man United

At present, Donny van de Beek has been the sole arrival at Old Trafford this summer.

The Dutchman has previously been a key figure in an Ajax side that won back-to-back league titles and reached the semi-final of the Champions League.

So, whilst central midfield didn’t really seem to be an area of concern for United at present, landing the Dutchman for an initial £35m did look a solid bit of business.

To this point, though, van de Beek’s chances to impress have been rather limited.

The midfielder did start vs Luton in the League Cup last week, but that United side was very weak.

And after he featured for just a few minutes over the weekend, Donny van de Beek’s agent has moved to criticise the Red Devils for their use of his client:

“A substitute; I don’t like it at all.

“I couldn’t do it, coming on with four minutes left. You’d have to leave me on the bench.

“But, I have to say, he still did three good things. And the penalty, where the winning goal came from, came from him. He did well in those couple of minutes.

“But normally they should have lost 7-1. Brighton hit the post and the bar five times. They (Brighton) have a nice team, but that shouldn’t happen to Manchester United.”

Brighton vs Man United

Despite taking on Brighton on Saturday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. are once again facing a trip to the Amex on Wednesday evening.

This tie comes in the form of a 4th round League Cup clash.

And after OGS made a plethora of changes in United’s 3rd round League Cup tie, combined with van de Beek not starting over the weekend, it was expected that the former Ajax standout would be in from the off this evening.

And when United released their starting line-up a short time ago, that indeed proved to be the case:
